Nebraska Runza For Dogs

img_9271Many areas in the United States have rich, cultural recipes. Nebraska has many such recipes, one called Runza. A doughy, meat filled pastry like treat, we adapted it a bit for dogs. We made a thinner, crepe like batter to fill with low fat meat. If you are in Nebraska, we highly recommend making a detour to find one of the many Nebraska restaurants that serve these!

2 large eggs
1 cup low fat milk
1 tablespoon olive oil
永利现在网址多少 1/2 cup water

Ingredients For Filling

Cooked, lean hamburger meat (about 2 cups)
Cooked, shredded carrots (about 1/2 cup)
Directions For Crepes

Combine all ingredients except water in a blender and blend until smooth. Cover the batter and let it rest 2 hours in refrigerator. When ready, thin the batter with water. Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly spray with cooking spray. Pour in enough batter to thinly coat the bottom of the pan. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes on one side then flip. Transfer cooked crepes to a plate and stack on top of each other with a towel over them.

Fill with desired amount of fillings and roll up. Our dogs love a little maple syrup on top which is a great source of energy.

Never serve hot food to your dog. This is meant as a treat and not a regular meal replacement. Always check with your vet before making any changes to your dog’s diet.
